The Story

The barn at Calcot provided a wonderful project to work on.

A kitchen was required which would
complement the stunning architectural
features of the barn.

Furthermore, it had to offer Shaker styling with pretty much every conceivable modern day kitchen appliance.

Cabinetry

Base cabinets run down the length of the wall standing either
side of the cooker. They are topped with premium granite for a luxurious finish and their enduring hard wearing quality.

To prevent a ‘galley’ effect a large kitchen island was created to end in line with the cabinetry. This would provide an area for food preparation and informal eating.

A contemporary feel was given to the simple shaker units with brushed aluminium bar handles and handcrafted natural oak spice drawers were made to sit either side of the integrated oven. All of the drawers are made using dovetail joints and open and close on soft close runners.

Appliance Centre & Island

A large larder was created to offer an abundance of storage space and aesthetically house a steam oven, fridge, freezer, microwave and coffee maker. The larder also provides a neat appliances area to hideaway items such as a toaster, mixer and weighing scales, as a result the worktops are kept clutter free and provide maximum workspace.

The island breaks up the space beautifully and is highly practical as it gives you the perfect ‘kitchen working triangle’ and again plays host to a wine cooler, food preparation sink, integrated fridge and freezer and a solid oak breakfast bar.
