The Story

The owners of this Cotswold home were
seeking a shaker style kitchen which could
conspicuously hide all of their appliances,
provide maximum work space and an area for
informal dining.

All of these challenges were met through a
combination of perfectly integrated appliances,
ingenious storage solutions, high quality
materials and exceptional craftsmanship and
attention to detail.

Cabinetry

The beauty of a true shaker kitchen is in its simplicity of design and continuous runs of cabinetry. To achieve this all of the appliances which included a washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, freezer and microwave were designed to be either concealed or integral. Looking at the kitchen you would not imagine that these were hidden behind their handcrafted shaker fronts.

A granite worktop was chosen for it endurance, beauty and its ability to set off the tone of the Farrow & Ball ‘Teresa’s Green’ paint used for the cabinetry. The cabinets are hand painted to ensure the best possible finish. The teak drainer provides a further detail to the overall kitchen scheme.

Larder

Finally, on our client’s Wish List was the ability to be able to
enjoy informal meals in their new kitchen - something that they had never been able to do in the past. An area was available to one end of the room, however, the space in part was occupied by the boiler. Continuing the shaker styling, a cupboard was built to house the boiler and provide additional storage space above. Housing the boiler in this way has allowed our client’s to place a table and chairs in this area and enjoy the informality of kitchen dining that they had always wanted.
